CENTEROS attracts attention at the AFCOM Asia/Pacific Symposium

Wednesday, 22 June 2011 09:08 by kate.crossley

CENTEROS attended the inaugural AFCOM Asia/Pacific Symposium in Sydney recently where we showed off our Data Centre Infrastructure Management software in the Vendor showcase in conjunction with one of our Australian resellers.

This was our first outing at a Data Centre show in Australia, and it was incredibly inspiring as we created a huge amount of interest on the reseller stand and we’re all very excited about the incredible opportunities that we are currently following up.  Australia will be a huge market for us and a great first step into the Asia Pacific region.  It was also a great chance to connect with some of our current customers, network with other data centre and facilities managers, and to participate in the educational seminars.

A luncheon was held to acknowledge registration of the new AFCOM chapters being set up in Australia and New Zealand.   Kate Crossley, as Secretary of the AFCOM NZ Northern Region Chapter was presented with the Certification of Chapter.

Exciting Month at CENTEROS

Sunday, 8 May 2011 10:16 by CENTEROS

Well it’s been a busy couple of months at CENTEROS.  Our website, thanks to Joels’ Search Engine Optimisation, is getting lots of hits which mean we are doing demonstrations to Data Centre Managers all over the world. Some of the companies reside in cities like Chicago, Seattle, Washington, Warsaw, Croatia, London, Bangladesh, Hyderabad, Cape Town,Singapore, and Vietnam and so the list continues.  This means we have either been up very early in the morning or demoing until very late at night because of the timezones.

Kate has taken up the mantle of connecting with these prospects after the demonstration and is getting some wonderful feedback on the ease of use of our software and our pricing model.  Our sales pipeline is building with most overseas companies indicating they will purchase in Quarter 3.

We are also off to the AFCOM Symposium in Sydney this weekend, where we will be showing our software in conjunction with Strategic Directions, one of our resellers. This is our first outing to a Data Centre show in Australia, so it will be a great experience and a chance for us to talk to people about our software.  We know, and our customers know that we have an awesome product!

CENTEROS Attends Data Centre Strategics

Thursday, 19 August 2010 18:49 by Joel Macfarlane
We were invited to participate in the Data Centre Strategics conference, held at the Hilton Conference centre in Auckland on August 19.  This was our first outing to a Data Centre conference and gave us the perfect opportunity to talk to delegates from the industry about our software.  Over 100 CIO’s, Data Centre Managers and Consultants attended.

We set up a stand and had a self running presentation playing to get the delegates interest.  It was an excellent opportunity to talk to prospective customers and build relationships with consultants and associated companies in our industry.   It also enabled us increase our company profile in the New Zealand market.

Data Centre Strategics is based in Singapore and they run Data Centre conferences in the Asia Pacific region.  We are looking forward to participating in the Melbourne and Sydney shows next year to help us expand into the Australian market.
See the Stand photo below.

CENTEROS Data Center Infrastructure Management Releases Version 2.1

Friday, 11 June 2010 14:31 by CENTEROS

We're excited about the new functionality that we have added in CENTEROS Verion 2.1 which has been released this month.  CENTEROS Data Center Infrastructure Management software is designed to provide data centres with management tools to manage their sites, customers, jobs, racks, items and capacity.

The CENTEROS Software Team are always endeavouring to keep our customers happy by communicating with them, asking for their input so they can share their ideas on what they feel would make CENTEROS better, easier to use and more fully featured.

We've listened to you and believe that these changes will make CENTEROS work more efficiently and faster. There are some shortcut features and added functionality as well.

Listed below are some of the features that are covered.

Search Window Paging

Added paging here to make it easier to view larger lists of items.

Quick Lookup Lists

These lists give you quick access to a list that matches the text you have typed in the Quick Lookup field. These lists are found on the Job Tasks window, the Items window and several others.

Schematic Changes

Lots of little changes have been made here including:

  • Improved locate of items, by label, serial number, asset number and bar code over many data centers and many rooms.
  • Support for half blades in Blade Chassis.
  • Easier access to add and update jobs and job tasks.
  • Items listed by model and manufacturer.

Duplicating Connectors and Connections

Connectors and connections can now be duplicated easily.

Item Template Window Changes

Templates can now be duplicated easily.

If you want more information about the added functionality in Version 2.0 Release 1 please email kate.crossley@centeros.com

Version 2 is finally done

Wednesday, 14 April 2010 19:37 by Joel Macfarlane
For those of you who don’t know, we have been working on Centeros V2 for a while. If I’m honest ‘a while’ means almost all of last year. What started off as a re-platform ended up ballooning into a massive exercise taking slightly over a year. We completely re-wrote our backend, moving it from PHP to .net.

While this was, at times, a painful exercise it now gives us a core which should support a continuous improvement style of releases into the foreseeable future. The new architecture also gives us a massive speed increase.

We have spent a lot of time on the interface, bringing a huge number of small usability enhancements online in one large release. We have not focused on new features but instead on pure usability changes. Centeros has always been the fastest way to manage your data center assets, but we are well aware that our customers are dealing with massive amounts of data. So we have focused on making things faster and adding smart usability enhancements, which makes your job even quicker.

Some of the highlights for me include our new universal picker which gives you the ability to search for and pick items without going into the search. This makes creating new elements a breeze.

We have also sped up the creation of new item templates by enabling you to duplicate (clone) an existing one which is close to the one you want to enter. Faster data entry, fewer mistakes, fewer boring repetitive tasks.

As another time saver we improved the process of removing a device. When you create a new task to remove a device it automatically creates all the disconnect tasks.

That probably gives you the flavor, so where to from here? Now we have a refined user interface sitting on an optimized platform it's time to bring forth some new features. We will be releasing these one at a time as quickly as we can.

The first major release will be power monitoring. It seems like everyone we talk to is looking for asset management plus monitoring. Centeros has always been able to manage power consumption based on manufacturers specification, but now we are taking that much further. The application will be able to monitor live power usage across the different devices in your data center.

Monitoring has been under development since Xmas, and is due for release in June.

Back to V2, if anyone wants an online live demo just let us know. We are working on some demo videos whch will be online in a couple of weeks time.

Watch this space.
